In a matter of days, the Philippines achieved something, something it has never done - with 113 golds, 84 silvers and 94 bronzes the Philippines is the over-all champion in the recently concluded 23rd Southeast Asian games held in numerous cities across the country.

113 Gold Medals
84 Silver Medals
94 Bronze Medals

291 Total Medals

These are one of the (sadly) few moments it feels SO good to be Filipino. Despite accusations of cheating and home-court favoring, the Philippines has regained its position as a force to reckon with.

Mabuhay ang atletang pinoy.

After a devastating bunch of long tests, Christmas Break na! I know I shouldn't worry much about grades and for the time being, i aint!

Why? I have lots of things to do and I mean a lot. Mamaya na yung block christmas party thingy. Pero before that, I plan to go back to the High School... dadaan lang... makikikain.. you know... free food! wahahaha... Tapos tomorrow... FMS 2005 Christmas Reunion/Exchange of Gifts! I hope it will be fun. ^_^ Sayang nga at dahil sa time zone differences ay may kulang na isa.

Pero the highlight of my day is that I am doing something about my dilemma. I am still not sure what the outcome will be but I guess this is something that I have to do. I do hope everything goes well. Haaaaay.. who would have thought that everything would end up this way?

One Hundred Years of Solitude

"The first of the line is tied to a tree and the last is being eaten by the ants.

After almost a week of reading, I finally finished it! Actually, I started this "habit" of reading one novel every school break, i know it is a waste of time for some pero classics have to be good, good enough for them to last that long. So the one I read for the Christmas break was One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Here is a picture of the book:

                            

But the copy i have is a battered one, without a proper cover that was donated by the family of Roman A. Cruz Jr., a guy who graduated from the Ateneo at the end of the 50's. Would you believe that the Rizal Library has an older copy? ^_^

Anyway, the book was looong. Every chapter is filled with so much events and the thing that I find annoying is that every chapter starts with something similar to a summary.. for example - the first part of the fourth chapter would say that this character died of this kind of disease and then the rest of the chapter would narrate how this happened and so on. However, there are proper transitions and great narration.

In the end, I found this book quite scandalous. One word : incest. I have no idea when this book was published but this book really shocked me. Amazingly, I like this book - even up to the extent of recommending it to anyone who has the time and the determination to read one book that I consider a "must-read."

A New Year Has Come

First of all, I would just like to say na One Year Old na ang aking blog! Yipeee! Wahahaha.. i did not know that it would last this long...

   Happy First Anniversary to .: Reflections:.

What a year it has been! Who would have thought that time would pass that fast? 2005 was a great year and I am sure you would agree that even though it had its fair share of downs - it sure had a lot of ups.

There are some things in my life that I would pay all the money I have (which is in an all time low, blame it on the christmas season) to go back in time so as to prevent the changes but then there are some things that I am contented with. Did that make sense? Well, it does to me.

Naisip ko lang, Good change = good. Bad change = good. change is good.  The fact that things are changing is good simply because if they weren't then our lives would start and end the same way - a scary sense of monotonous-ness.

I know that the future is still bright for me, and you, and the rest of the people in the planet. Sadly, we can not and are not able to predict what will happen. On the other hand, knowing the future means that you do not have a future. Haha.. rip-off sa tag line ng film na "Paycheck" - If you show people their future, they don't have a future. Let us all enjoy our ignorance of the future that lies ahead.

Resolutions? Well, I never had and have no intention on making a formal list but i guess for this year i just want to give more, to love more, to work more and in the end - to be more. Quite vague, right? Well, I guess making resolutions vague is the way to go since along the way, I can make adjustments. ^_^

I hope that 2006 would bring in more luck and prosperity. For this year, there is only one thing that I truly ask for - one thing that I have been praying for. I do hope that it would come true - para masaya na ako. I guess i have to find happiness somewhere else. ^_^
