Palm Sunday

Today is Palm Sunday. And I found myself in Quiapo with some free time. I actually did not intend to go to church. I did not even know that it was palm sunday today. Haha But there is no missing it. These palms come in all forms, shapes and sizes - carried by rich or poor. Ewan. I guess Palm Sundays would be one of childhood memories. haha Wala lang, masarap makipagsiksikan pagkatapos ng misa, para lang maambunan ng konting holy water galing sa pari. And today was no different. Well actually may isang iba, instead of only the palm getting wet, I was standing too close to the priest that he actually showered me with water. The priest went overboard with the showering of holy water. haha I literally looked like I took a bath. hahaha
Ayan, here is a picture taken using my shameful VGA phone camera . [which will hopefully be replaced soon... ] Anyway, here you can see the ceiling of Quiapo church as well as the palms. I myself bought one - the one closest to the camera is mine, i think. The funny thing is that once one tries to shake a palm, everyone else follows. wahaha para siyang "wave".
Here is another picture that I had to take. Ewan. This just stunned me. As you can see this is another palm, one of the probably thousands in Quiapo. But, the thing that grabbed my attention was that this person was also having her passport blessed. Its the green booklet since Philippine passports are green, i think. Ayun. Wala lang. There was faith at that moment. Its one of those moments where you see a concrete form of an abstract thing. Pero in absolute truth, I think observig Palm Sundays, just like Christmas are more of being a Filipino rather than being a Catholic. If my memory from Theo 121 serves me right, its folk catholicism. Pero, hidden underneath thick layers of culture, its rooted in faith. It has to be. *smile* See!? There might be hope for me yet.

Update!

I think the biggest irony with blogs, diaries and journals would be the fact that they are hardly filled during the busiest times. I mean, things like blogs are meant to document things that have happened, things that you felt and others but then again, when you are busy, who has the time right? So ayun. It has been mga 2 weeks since I posted a serious entry (excluding the "Wendy" post which i did out of sheer i-need-to-remember-this impulse) which means that I have been busy. Take note ha, i have been busy (hindi nagbibusy-busyhan.)
So anyway, I have been working for Unilever for about two weeks na (which is counting the holy week holiday.) I think tapos na rin ang getting-to-know-you phase - yun pa man din ang pinakaayaw ko. I actually have the "feel" of the job na. I already customized my company-provided laptop (the same way i customize every laptop I "own" and I already arranged my desk. I haven't had that much exposure to the sun kasi maaga yung pasok tapos aircon yung transpo to and from my house so its all ok.
I had to deliver several documents to various departments sa Unilever. Dun ko lang talaga natanggap - ang laki laki laki laki laki laki laki laki laki laki laki laki ng Unilever. As in mega-super-duper-huge-next-level-na-ito big. Hmmm Imagine a big company - as in sobrang daming departments tapos nag-level up na, nagevolve pa! So anyway, exagg na. wahahaha Basta. And take note, main office pa lang yun ha, di ko pa nababangit ang food processing sa cavite at ang ice cream plant sa manggahan plus yung provincial branches nila. OMG. Basta. It is so overwhelming.
One of my favorite scenes sa sixth season ng Gilmore Girls would be the ones featuring Rory as an intern for this prominent company. In this case, feel na feel ko na talaga ang pagiging rory! haha As in, kanina habang nagkakaroon ng meeting about the event with all the departments involved, isip isip ko... dejavu? haha OMG, nababaliw na talaga ako (nasobrahan siguro ako ng exposure sa surf detergent sa plant kanina hahaha)
Ayun. So, tuloy ang trabaho. Sana I get to learn a lot. I hope so. And sana I don't have the urge to spend all of my so-called-salary all at the same time. Kailangan maexplore na ni Aldrich ang concept ng Time Deposit - yung for sure na hindi magagalaw ang pera sa bangko. haha Kasi, I am trying to leave my ATMs sa bahay eh, pero at the end of the month, I still figure out a way to lessen the balance sa account. Hmmmm galeng no!? na-outsmart ang sarili. Haha In a way, parang tinalo ang sarili.. hmmm... tinalo ang sarili...*ahem* haha
Yun na lang siguro muna. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

Boredom Sucks.

Its Tuesday afternoon and I am in my cubicle typing on this laptop. The thing is, I spent the whole day basically sitting on my chair, browsing the internet and eating food left on the department's fridge simply because I have nothing to do. I'm in between projects - and I am sooo bored.
The project that just finished was the Best of U. Actually, it was a great project, an event pretty much like the Oscars for all the amazing projects within Unilever. It was in Le Pavillon last Friday. Can I just say the food , especially the ice cream was so overwhelming. Wanna know how overwhelming? 8, eight, walo, lapan, ocho - i gained 8 pounds, 8 f*cking pounds because of that damn buffet and the several boxes of ice cream that I brought home. haha Now, I have to figure out a way as to how to get rid of those unwanted pounds. Just when I was so close to my ideal weight...
So ayun. Ngayon, I do not have anything to do. Nabrowse ko na ang lahat ng pwedeng ibrowse - sa isang company computer. haha Ngayon ko lang talaga naintindihan ang term na NSFW - not safe for work. Kasi, when you are using your own computer, kahit anong site pwede - not necessarily p*rn, come what may. Pero pag company computer ang gamit, kailangan may discretion ekek. Of course R18 is out of the picture. Think less PG 13, more GP. Ayun. Bored na ako.
The thing is, I hate being bored. I'd rather carry a heavy workload - yung level na malulunod ka na sa sobrang dami ng trabaho in contrast to not having any work to do at all. Kasi not having anything to do at all makes you think, makes you realize things, makes you reflect - it makes you think about things oftentimes so deeply that it becomes unhealthy.
Something happened kanina. I do not know why it affected me so. Hindi naman ako yung tinamaan. Wala lang. Its just people can be vicious sometimes. Hindi naman ako naghuhugas-kamay, because God knows how vicious I can be. But then its just that people can really be so cruel to other people. And the thing is, I just stood there. I didn't do anything. Ewan, standing there, not doing anything is so un-me.
Ayun. Yun na lang muna. It looks like I have some work to do.Yehey! haha

Go-PAL!

This is going to be a short post. 
I was browsing my Microsoft Outlook account kanina since I didn't really have anything much to do. Tapos, I looked at the address book. You see, Unilever has this big big big list of people who work for them - I mean, it contains employees from all the Unilevers accross the globe.
What do you do with a list like that? Naturally, you look for your name right? I knew my name would not be there since I'm only an OJT but heck, I still did it anyway! haha
So, there I was typing my last name - Gopal, of course expecting that there would be no records found, since I am used to being the only one. Lo and behold, there were other people whose surnames were Gopal.

Munisha Gopal
Natasha Gopal
Rajesh Gopal
Venu Gopal
First of all, I appreciated my first name even more. haha And you would assume that they are in India right? wrong. All of them work for the head office of Unilever - in the UK! OMG! I am sooo interpreting this as a sign that I will soon be working there, like its destiny or something! haha
And yet, there's more! I found other surnames related to Gopal. Here they are:
1.Gopala (parang Kristala!)

3. Gopalakrishna (sounds like a Hindu Goddess)

Pinoy Big Brother - Kick Pamela Off!

I was watching Pinoy Big Brother kanina. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw Gee-Ann (spelling?) crying because I think she gave up her doll (Pamela) in exchange for Big Brother's act of lifting her automatic nomination. Excuse me if I am getting all these wrong... haha It has certainly been a long time since I watched PBB.
Ayun. So I was thinking. If I was in the PBB house and had the powers to vote, I'd vote Pamela off - that ugly and disgusting excuse for a doll. I mean, half the time it annoys me (especially the way Gee Ann treats it like its alive and all, and the way the rest of the House tolerates it) and half the time it scares me - its like a combination of Mahal (you remember her?) and the seed of chucky. Kick her off, for the love of God! haha
And can Maricris just get over herself? I love Beatrice to death haha, so I am definitely biased. And please do vote for Wendy, na-automatic nomination siya eh. (^_^)

Of falling stars and wilted leaves

The votes are in. Can i just say that it was a good fight.
If you have been under a rock all this time, heres the short-i'm-too-lazy-to-type-a-long-narration version. So, I got nominated in the Pinoy Tabulista awards. Its an award-giving "body" that gives awards for different categories. My blog got nominated for Best Template and I got nominated for User of the Month. After a month of voting, the poll is finally over and I came out as the winner, for both! *blush*
My blog Reflections has finally won an award! - the Best Template for the Month of April and I won the User of the Month for April from Pinoy Tabulista. I know people have been recommening/advocating their own candidates - I mean, tabulistas promoting fellow tabulistas (which is pretty much like a real election) I even saw an entry saying which candidate to vote for (I mean, come on...) , and I did not really see a lot of tabulistas rooting for me so this really did make me want to win even more! haha
To be quite honest, I was overwhelmed at the support I got. I mean, who would have thought that I had that much online friends. I would like to thank all of you for voting - those people who voted on their own, those who voted day after day, those who voted because other people asked them to and those who voted because I "strongly persuaded" them haha.
I would like to thank a lot of people - those in my YM list (Block H1, R39, Regcom peeps and other high school and college friends) who I bothered time and time again to vote, my friends from various forums and of course my Snitch Forums family - the support you have given me has been so overwhelming. Thank you so much. (^_^)
