Anywaaay's, there's one wierd site that I have gone to in the past, and just recently rediscovered once again. It was recommended by a high school friend of mine - with him knowing how much I love cats. ![]() You can browse through more than 90 pages (and to infinity and beyond) of these pictures here. Go Green (with envy) Posted at 10:42 PM in Life as I Know It I've talked about childhood dreams in the past. I mean, we all had them. Think. I mean think back as to how your 8 year old self would complete the sentence: "When I grow up, I . . ." ![]() Oh God! Its so damn beautiful. And guess what, this photo was taken by a high school kabarkada of mine - Nikolai (FMS)! That b*tch (hi niko! haha) is living my dream right at this moment. oh crap. you have no idea how jealous I am. haha Envy becomes me! bwahahaha Yep, I'm green with envy and yet I'm sooo happy for him. You can read more about his trip to the UK here: Nikolai's Summer in the UK. New Mantra: You can't be better if you're bitter. So here's to me not being bitter and hoping that I save enough of my salary to splurge on a European tour by next year. Oh yes you've read that right, I'm limiting myself to the English countryside no more! If I'm going to dream, might as well Dream Big (go David Cook!)... haha! Reading: E-mails. [Aldrich Rant No. 1] Terms at the Tip of My Tongue Posted at 11:52 AM in Aldrich Rants about Don't you hate that feeling that you know something, and yet you can't really remember what it is? It's like you know this term for example, and then its at the tip of your tongue. And some times, it takes minutes, hours and even days before you remember what it is? The frustration is just sooo overbearing - and that's assuming that you remember whatever you were thinking of eventually. But what if you dont? That's just scary. I had one moment like that today. I mean, I was thinking of this advertising term that we discussed way back in second year high school - one where the messages sent to the target audience had this underlying message, suggestive messages in a way. Our then teacher, Mr. Dator, even used Janet Jackson and her songs as an example. Oh yes, "Someone to Call My Lover" was a perfect example of this. But I just couldn't remember what it was! I asked (*ahem*pestered*ahem*) friends in YM and they tried their best. Connotation? No. Implication? Not Quite. Euphemism? I don't think so. Starting with what letter!? I don't even know. Holy Crap. But then, I YMed Andrew, who i hoped listened well to Mr.Dator's lecture unlike me who spent most lecture hours gossiping and laughing at the back of the classroom. Thankfully, he did remember. So what was the term: Subliminal Messages. Holy crap. Two small words that added a few minutes of frustration to the already frustrating life that I live. tsk tsk! There. haha Just wanted to blog about that. Reading: E-mails. Hearing: Marie Digby - Say It Again Feelin' frustrated. |
Pre-Employment Jitters Posted at 09:59 PM in Life as I Know It I recieved a call from the HR department this afternoon. They just wanted me to fill-up the last of the forms, making me another entry in their employee database. Oh God, I can't believe that this is all happening. Its just that, I've been waiting for this to happen since, well, since the end of my internship experience with Unilever. After that, I actually didn't want to go back to school anymore. ![]() I'm soo excited kasi way back in Unilever, my direct line manager was a guy - si Sir Marc. I had a female boss also, but she was the Director of the department na. Ngayon, I'll be reporting directly to a female boss. Anyway, its going to be a different experience for sure. Oh God, I hope I get a The-Devil-Wears-Prada experience - the part where Andi was doing great with Miranda Priestly... plus, I hope I get to have a transformation din! haha Yuppie clothes for Aldrich. haha! HR also told me her name, but I forgot what it was. But from what I can vaguely remember, the name doesn't sound Filipino. Looks like my Cross Cultural Communication Skills are going to be tested just as I step into the real world. You can't believe how this scares and excites me at the same time. Oh, and there's another round of good news! Looks like my Orientation Trip aka Look-See in Singapore is going to be scheduled for the second or third week of July. I am soooo friggin' excited. Could this be the beginning of Aldrich: The Golden Age!? hahaha I hope so. (^_^) Reading: Pre-Employment Forms Hearing: Natasha Beddingfield - Pocketful of Sunshine Feelin' touched |
[Aldrich Raves About No. 2] Oliver's New Blog Posted at 11:14 PM in Aldrich Raves about Sunday, July 6, 2008 To Be Happy Whenever I would see a happy couple either walking hand-in-hand or just chatting over dinner in some cozy restaurant, I couldn't help but be happy for them because in an imperfect world of half-meant promises and broken dreams, it seems that, even for a couple of minutes, everything is perfect. Even more, those who are lucky enough to find themselves wrapped around in somebody's loving arms should smile and in a proud gesture, be thankful. For even if we do not know how long such ephemeral things would last, we are nonetheless, forever left in awe. But why do we find it so difficult to even force a little grin on our long faces, when in our knowing, we are the ones who should have been in that situation? Maybe because, at the end of the day, when we find ourselves feeling cold, unwanted and forced to give ourselves our own pat-on-the-back, the very thing that made us happy is the very same thing which can make us sad. And in a seemingly perfect world of everlasting vows and bright futures, we tuck ourselves away in the night, and in the bitter darkness of solitude and pain, we are left with a grieving, broken heart. The sentiments posted in the entry above are things that I identify with. And to be honest, I could not have said it better myself. Well, that's because that entry was posted by a very great friend of mine - Oliver (FMS)! And its his third entry in (yet another) his new blog ~> oliverquintana.blogspot.com. Anyway, I'm just so happy that yet another FM has discovered (or in this case, re-discovered) the vanity that is blogging. So here's to hoping that he finds inspiration to type more and more entries. And here's to praying that this blog lives longer than its predecessors. haha! Hearing: Pantene TVC Watching: Pantene TVC Feelin' nice. |
My Happy Fat Cells Posted at 07:24 PM in Life as I Know It Well, things have been great the past few days. I mean, its the start of the month, so once again, I am liquid. Oh yes, finally, I have cash once again. But, I doubt if it will last long. haha Hopefully it does, at least until I start working. Anyway, things have been great, especially for my fat cells. Various relatives have been coming and going to our house, and well, true to being a traditional Filipino family, Mama pulled out all the stops. It has been pasta here, and roast chicken there. Not to mention all the fast food stuff that I've been eating. Holy crap. This is certainly a one-way ticket to fat-dom. That's a place I don't want to go back to ever. (that is of course with the completely debatable assumption that I left.. haha!) Oh and there's another thing. Last Saturday, I finally was able to meet and have lunch with Mandy. Finally. After weeks of planning, rain check after rain check, we were able to make it happen. Oh God. Working people really have lots of things to do, and schedules filled to the brim. Which makes me appreciate how she was able to squeeze me in her weekend-"me"-time. Anyway, we ate-all-we-could in Tramway. Mandy was the one who introduced me to Tramway last year. We ate there together with Sharto. And when I say ate, I mean ate-aka-gobble-up-all-the-food-in-the-buffet. haha! But that was in their more popular Timog Branch. This time, we opted for their Banawe Branch - which is far more secluded, thus their buffet is "fresher" and less people-infested. For those not familiar with Tramway, its technically a chinese-themed eat-all-you-can place, all for the very reasonable price of Php188! O di ba!? Beat that Saisaki! haha But don't get me wrong, its still more quantity rather than quality. However, Its really goood for those days that you really want to "pig" out and eat different stuff without burning a hole in your pockets. haha! Anyway, Mandy and I finally got to talk! haha Which is kinda weird kasi before, we talked all the time! And now, puro YM na lang, basically because of her work and all that. And that's when I realized, we were going to be working for the same company! haha She's part of the Finance Department and I'm part of Marketing. Which is in a way proof, that in some way, there's order in the world. Simply because, there is no way in hell that I'm going to work in Finance. Numbers + Aldrich don't really mix well. But then, Mandy really loves Finance, and she's well in her element. Hopefully, Brand Management is my element. *fingers crossed* I told her about my upcoming overseas orientation trip. But guess what, she also has this month long overseas placement. Oh yes, this overseas placement beat the hell out of mine. haha Which country you ask? I don't think I should say it here, but oh God! I'm soooo bitter. haha Once again, I am green with envy. haha! And then I realized, this was the last time that we were going to see each other before I start work. I mean, I'll be leaving by August, and she'll be back by mid August or early September. Oh crap. haha But still, I'm proud of the both of us. I mean, Mandy was my partner in crime when it came to all that application stuff. We had our desperate-what-do-i-do-now moments. We were desperate enough to do door-to-door resume applications. We did the whole-day BPI application process. We even went to Ortigas to drop by all the companies there. And now, we're finally employed. And under the same company! Take note, this was the very same company that did not offer us their prestigious internship. haha Oh well, employment beats the hell out of internship any day. Plus, we're both going international. And the memory of our tired faces, with our corporate attire walking in Makati to drop off resumes really does make me beam with pride as to where we are now. Patience truly is a virtue. Oh and before I forget, I just want to end this post by greeting a very great friend of mine, Justin, a very Happy 22nd Birthday! Its a brave new world out there with sick leaves, taxes and salaries of which I have not yet benefited from. But God knows we're going to do great. After all, FMS tayo eh. haha Reading: Blog Roll. Hearing: Sarah Geronimo - Kaibigan Feelin' reflective. |
Lorenzo's Oil Posted at 07:38 PM in Life as I Know It After clicking several links from God knows where, I ended up with this website that was all about the Myelin Project. Honestly, I can't even remember what the hell I was doing there. Yes, time and time again, boredom gets the better of me. According to Wikipedia, Lorenzo's Oil was an Academy Award nominated 1992 drama film. Based on the true story of Augusto (Nick Nolte) and Michaela (Susan Sarandon) Odone's relentless search for their son Lorenzo's adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD.) Peace of Mind Posted at 03:06 PM in Life as I Know It Today, I paid Php500 for my peace of mind. Do you think that was a bargain? What's the going rate for "peace of mind" these days anyway? Reading: the last of my pre-employment docs. Hearing: Corrine Bailey Rae - Like A Star Feelin' peaceful. |
[Aldrich Raves About No. 3] Mama Mia (the Movie) Posted at 11:23 AM in Aldrich Raves about I should have written this entry yesterday, but I was just so tired from going out that I didn't want to risk not being able to do this movie justice. But anyway, its the day after, and the awe is still with me. haha That, in itself, says something.

Still alive! haha Posted at 01:12 PM in Life as I Know It Today, I woke up in Malaysia, rode a bus to Singapore to catch a flight to the Philippines. Oh God. Three countries in one day, and I am so tired. Ito na ba ang feeling ng pagiging jet-setter!? Nah. haha True jetsetters cross continents, not simply borders. But nevertheless, my passport's got new stamps, yay! Yep, it was all fun and I've loads to blab about. Just watch out for that entry. [Aldrich Raves About No. 4] Disturbia Music Video Posted at 11:10 PM in Aldrich Raves about I wanted my next entry to be all about Singapore, but I just have to blog about this.. haha! I just watched this clip in youtube a few minutes ago, and its so friggin' eccentrical-ly fabulous! Here's Rihanna with Disturbia.
I mean, I love the song Disturbia - it even made it to the CD Playlist that I put on every time I drive. And I just found out that it already had a music video, well, just a few minutes ago as well! So, here's my amazement as to how flexible this girl really is. I mean, compare it to another video of hers that I really love, I mean, its gotta be one of my favorite videos of all time! Here's Rihanna with Umbrella.
Which one do you like better? They're both outstanding in their own right, di ba!? Pero it all boils down to this, malandi si Rihanna. haha Hearing: Rihanna - Disturbia Watching: Rihanna - Disturbia Feelin' impressed |

PGMA SONA Posted at 09:18 AM in Life as I Know It "As your President, I care too much about this nation…I will let no
one, and no one's political plans, get in the way of the well-being of
the people. I will let no one hinder our people's progress and
prosperity. I will let no one threaten our nation's survival. This is
my commitment," - Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, 2008 State of the Nation Address Yes, her administration is far from perfect. In fact, her administration braved out several "scandals" thrown her way. But the thing is, people have got to stop thinking that the president is the answer to the nation's problems. She isn't and will never be our panacea. And the sooner we accept that, the sooner people will realize that yes, she is also human and yes, she does her best given her potential and corresponding limitations. After all, everyone can say that they can do a better job. That's the thing about free speech, you can criticize all you want, and blame all your problems on the president. But wake up and smell the third-world air. We are a developing country - its a long and tedious road towards development, and anyone expecting a fast-tracked development is just plain foolish. And take a look around the world, its not like our problems are isolated. I can proudly say that I voted for Ms. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. I campaigned for her and quite possibly got several more votes for our esteemed president. And now that we are in the final stretch of her term, I don't regret voting for her. In fact, I feel that I did the country a huge favor when I did. So here's to doing the best we can given our resources and limitations. Because after all, more often than not, that's the best and only thing we can do. Reading: E-mails. Hearing: Heather Small - Proud Feelin' proud. |
[Aldrich Raves About No. 5] Where the hell is Matt? Posted at 10:19 AM in Aldrich Raves about What do you think will be your answer to the question, "If I was filthy rich, I would..."? I mean, yes, some people are born rich, some people are born poor. But make no mistake about it, both the rich and the poor want to be rich-er.
Now, do you remember him? I bet his passport's loaded with stamps from different countries. haha! *sigh* But, Matt is just proof that you don't really have to be rich to actually see the world. According to him, in some areas in the world, like Asia and Africa, you can actually rough it up and live on a few dollars a day. Now, isn't that motivational!? Life is just too damn short. But then again, I have to save up on those dollars first. haha! Reading: Immigration Documents Hearing: Nate - Free Feelin' excited. |
